Clients include professional athletes, business people, actors, dancers, musicians, and students, all of whom want more out of life. These clients understand the Triad philosophy of “Mens Sana in Corpore Sano” a phrase loosely translated to mean, a sound mind and a sound body.
It reflects the notion that the brain and the body are not mutually exclusive entities. We believe firmly that success with one is significantly enhanced by success with the other. Our team will work with you on goal setting, methods of efficient learning, the mindset of champions, and your fitness and wellness needs. The mental and physical performance team is led by Dr. Mark Guadagnoli, and he is assisted by specialists in the area of fitness and nutrition. Dr. Guadagnoli started his work with professional athletes and collegiate athletes in several sports including basketball, football, baseball, golf, and track/cross country. However, he has found the principles of success that hold true for athletes also hold true for business professionals, students, and anyone else who wants to be their best. In addition to individual consolations, Dr. Guadagnoli regularly teaches courses in mental training, is currently the UNLV Men’s Golf Mental Training Consultant, and has worked with several other teams as well.
Dr. Guadagnoli employs a unique educational background and philosophy in his work with athletes. In addition to his background in Cognitive Psychology, Dr. Guadagnoli has studied principles of Kinesiology and Motor Learning Theory and has received numerous awards for his academic work (multiple awards for Teacher of the Year and Researcher of the Year, Core Reviewer and Delegate of the Royal and Ancient Golf Society of St. Andrews Trust, 3-time Graduate Student of the Year at Auburn University).
One of the unique aspects of Dr. Guadagnoli’s background is his expertise in practice and learning. His methods have been shown to speed learning 4 or 5 times that of regular practice. His findings have been published in a paper which has had a major impact in the field. The paper, called "Challenge Point: Framework for Conceptualizing the Effects of Various Practice Conditions in Motor Learning", is a culmination of his many years of research and was co-authored with an associate, Dr. Tim Lee, from McMaster University. The paper explains general principals about the relationship between the amount of difficulty during practice and the benefit gained from it. Through his research and his experience with athletes, Dr. Guadagnoli is able to develop practice routines for individual clients that challenge them at an appropriate level to provide the greatest benefit. The principles from the paper are being used in a variety of teaching settings ranging from delicate surgical techniques to athletics.
